Poodle

The Poodle, also known as Caniche in French, has European origins dating back to France and Germany. Bred as water retrievers, they were used to fetch waterfowl due to their excellent swimming ability. Their curly, dense coats provided buoyancy and protection. They have long, droopy ears and a high, curled tail over their back. Their elegant bearing and refinement delighted young bourgeois women in the 15th century, leading to the development of the breed as we know it today.

Poodles make good family dogs: they are fun, energetic, intelligent, and easy to train. They are dogs that need regular exercise and prefer to be with people most of the time; they don't like to be isolated. They are exceptional jumpers and very adept at escaping, so you'll need to check your yard's fence carefully.

Thanks to their curly hair, they are suitable for living with people with allergies, as they do not shed routinely.
